"on last day" in English usually means "最后一天", it is not used for "yesterday." You can use "the day before" to mean "yesterday".

EG: I nearly used all of my power because I had been doing my job continuously for half a day the day before.

EG: On the last day of my previous job, I worked at least 12 hours teaching my replacement.

ur.. i have to say..  i played a trick in this sentence..

"not do something because ... " means "并不是因为***才做什么事情的" in Chinese.

in this sentence, "I" did take the job, but it was not because of the salaly. it is because the job is a challenge to me.

ur.. i dont really want to trick you people down. all i want to do is to get something for us to study together. you know, always talking about the things known to us all is not a good way for improvement. then i just placed something new in my sentence every time, aiming to get you study a bit by a bit. :) i dont think i am good enough to be a teacher to everybody, but we can learn and make progress together.
